Jeremy Clarkson had to rush his beloved dog Sansa to the vet after a horror injury to the pup’s eye.

Sansa, the dog belonging to the star of Prime Video’s Clarkson’s Farm, had to be saved by vets after getting a thorn lodged in her eye.

The 63-year-old took to the social media site Instagram to update fans about Sansa’s recovery and thank the vets for their emergency work.

Posting a photo of the pet, Mr Clarkson said: “A huge thank you to our local vets who saved Sansa’s eye this afternoon.

“A thorn went right through it.”

The photo showed Sansa sitting by the famous farmer’s legs wearing a protective collar but looking to be on the mend.

Mr Clarkson’s partner Lisa Hogan also shared a picture of their dog with an update on her condition.

“Sansa got a thorn through her eye this morning. It wasn't pretty. Our local vet sent us to an eye vet surgeon,” she said.

“He did lots of tests to check that nothing was left remaining that he would have to surgically remove to save her eye.

“Vets are amazing. Happy to report that Sansa will live to see another day, with both eyes."

One Instagram user took to the comments to ask Mr Clarkson if the pet was named after Game of Thrones character Sansa Stark.

The former Top Gear presenter confirmed this as the case by revealing the name of his other dog and responded: “Her sister is Arya.”
